What We Do

At EDAMH, we are committed to promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing across East Dunbartonshire. We provide Person centred support that aims to assist individuals experiencing mental health challenges to build resilience, improve wellbeing, and achieve personal goals. Our approach focuses on early intervention, recovery, and empowering people to take control of their mental health in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.

We offer tailored support that recognises the unique circumstances and needs of each individual. Through one-to-one support and group peer support, we help people develop coping strategies, build confidence and reduce isolation.

Prevention and early support are at the heart of what we do. By providing accessible information, and opportunities to learn practical wellbeing skills, we help individuals better understand their mental health and how to improve their wellbeing.

Accessing support

  • Support is free. No cost involved to access any of our services.
  • Referrals are accepted from various sources such as self-referrals, from health professionals, family and friends and from other third sector organisations
  • Once a referral form is received, an assessment is arranged to assess suitability, on average this takes place 2 weeks after receipt of referral.
  • After the assessment, individuals are placed on our waiting list. On average individuals wait 4 weeks before their support begins.

Support Sessions

  • A maximum of 12, 1 hour support sessions are offered
  • Support is person centred and trauma informed
  • Support takes place in a location of the clients choosing e.g. EDAMH support rooms, coffee shops, digital meetings, phone calls and walking supports
  • Clients pick 1 or 2 outcomes at the beginning of support and they are supported to achieve them during the course of their support sessions.
  • Types of outcomes vary and clients are given the choice to work towards the one that they will benefit from the most. The most common outcomes are reducing anxiety, becoming more assertive, building self-esteem and becoming more productive.

Want to know more about Referrals?

Referrals can be made in person, by letter or by telephone. We operate an open referral system, so while you can be referred by another person or service, such as your doctor, you can also refer yourself directly.
