  • Samaritans 116 123 or text SHOUT to 85258. Free 24-hour helpline to anyone feeling low or considering suicide. If you prefer to write down how you’re feeling, or if you’re worried about being overheard on the phone, you can email Samaritans at jo@samaritans.org
  • Childline  0800 1111 Free, confidential support online and over the phone for young people under 19. Calls are free from landlines and mobiles in the UK, even if you don’t have credit on your mobile phone. There is also a webchat option available.
  • Young Minds Crisis Messenger 24/7 text messaging service for young people in crisis. Text YM to 85258

  • Breathing Space 0800 83 85 87 is a website and phone service for anyone experiencing low mood, depression or anxiety. Phone lines open: Monday-Thursday 6pm to 2am, Friday 6pm-Monday 6am
  • Switchboard LGBT+ helpline  0300 330 0630  information, support and referral service for anyone who identifies as LGBT+. Phonelines and webchat open 10am -10pm every day.
  • Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) 0800 58 58 58 Nationwide support, information and signposting for young men. Phone lines and webchat open: 5pm to midnight every day.
  • Mind England and Wales – Mind provide mental health services in local communities across England and Wales.
  • Bullying UK is a website for both children and adults affected by bullying
  • PAPYRUS  0800 068 41 41 is a voluntary organisation supporting teenagers and young adults who are feeling suicidal
  • Students Against Depression is a website for students who are depressed, have a low mood or are having suicidal thoughts
  • HOPELINEUK 0800 068 4141 support children and young people under the age of 35 and will provide you with a safe space to talk through anything happening in your life that could be impacting on your or anyone else’s ability to stay safe.
  • LGBT Youth Scotland 0300 123 253 provide support with all types of issues and provides a listening ear and emotional support to LGBTI+ young people 13–25 years and their families.
  • The Mix is a free, confidential helpline and online counselling service to support young people under 25 with the challenge they are facing – from mental health to money, from homelessness to finding a job, from break-ups to drugs. Use their crisis messenger by texting THEMIX to 85258
  • EDAMH – CEDAR Project 0141 955 3040 provides support to Children and Young People 4-16 years and their mothers who are experiencing mental health difficulties due to their experience of domestic abuse.
  • YOUNGMINDS provides parent/career guidance to parents whose children may be struggling with suicidal thoughts and feelings. 
  • PARENTLINE 08000 28 22 33 is a support service dedicated to parents/families and carers needing help by putting children and their families at the centre of their work.  The service offers emotional and practical support, acting as advocacy support in order to provide children and their families with the best life they can have.
